The development and construction of the vehicle
The ICR carriages are developed from the middenbak the ICM Intercity trains.
The carriage is equipped with Y32 bogies, which were developed in the 70s of the twentieth century originally for the French Corail carriages, and had unprecedented good handling for that time. In the 70s of the twentieth century NS experimented with these coaches. There is then envisaged this type for the purpose of the coach trains drawn to purchase. Instead, it was decided to develop the ICR and own car but with the French bogies. It is the layout of the interior influenced by the French Corail carriages. The original interior of the ICR cars was also used later in the ICM trains. Since 2003, the ICR coaches modernized, and they got a different interior, which is not fully drawn more even after the modernization of the ICM trains.

Construction and engineering
The ICR carriages were built by the Talbot in Aachen. The carriages are 26.4 meters long and rest on two two-axle bogies, sprung with coil springs and brakes with a combined schijf-/blokkenrem. The car is electric heating. Unlike older vehicles, where the low voltage via shaft generators was raised, put the ICR for low voltage lighting and ventilation via a static converter and inverter off the train heating cable. The coaches have zwenkzwaaideuren and sliding doors that open earlier in line with older European standards with a door handle. Meanwhile, this works with a push button as with other trains. The maximum speed of the cars is 160 km / h.

Versions of the ICR
The ICR ruituigen are built in three types, the difference in the types lies mainly in the power and the static converter, which the building for low voltage on board, including for the enlightened.
• ICR neighbor (blue / yellow), for use in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg
• ICR Benelux (NS HiSpeed colors), are obviously also deployed in the Benelux
• ICR interior (blue / yellow), only usable in Netherlands

ICR neighbor carriages
This 166 carriages, also known as ICR-1 (1980-1982) and ICR-4 (1988), are delivered in versions A (first class) (45 pieces), B (second class) (70 pieces) and BKD ( second class with kitchen and luggage compartment) (51 pieces). These cars are also suitable for the Benelux Office.

The neighboring cars are distinguished from domestic carriages by the hit occurred, multilingual inscriptions, emergency hammers and train heating next 1500 volts DC is also working on other European voltages (1000 V - 16.7 Hz, 1500 V - 50 Hz 3000 V DC).
After the renovation between 2000 and 2005 is the type BKD disappeared, and there are 3 new types appeared: BD (Second class with luggage compartment), Bf (Second class with luggage compartment for bikes) and BDs (Second class with luggage compartment and a helm) coaches . Because there were 37 carriages transferred to NS HiSpeed (they got back to 8), there are two cars after an accident demolished, one carriage royal carriage has become, and several carriages A degraded, are the relationships come to be different. At present there are 46 B-carriages, 20 A-carriages, 7 BD-carriages, 21 Bf-carriages and finally 32 BDs-carriages. Also, there are still 8 B-coaches of the Benelux type available.

The helm is the operator, unlike usual in Dutch material, on the left, as in the locomotives used. The Benelux coaches had a different color: the blue band around the windows was replaced with burgundy, because this was the corporate color of the SNCB at the time of commissioning. After the conversion to ICRM all cars were the new colors of NS Hispeed, the new owners of the carriages, in a stripe-like pattern of red, white and pink. The Belgian locomotives used or retained the burgundy color. Some trains are now pulled by TRAXX locomotives. Due to problems with the SNCB locomotives on the steep slope in the new station of Antwerp The conversion to ICRM are type AB and BKD disappeared, they were converted to B and BD carriages. The helm station wagons are not renovated, it will gradually be taken out of service and replaced by a B-car with a locomotive. After the renovation possession NS HiSpeed Bs-11, BD-10, 10 A and 20 B-coaches of the type Benelux. 8 B-carriages were transferred to the domestic service, and so got no blue chairs. These carriages are placed in the blue NS-house style. And to compensate for the increase in the number of services nshispeed are 37 neighboring carriages transferred to NS HiSpeed: 1 BD, 12 A and 24 B-coaches of the type neighbors. Allows without using the helm exactly 11 strains are formed from the composition loc-BAA-BD-BBB loc. These strains will from September 2009 to do service in the HSL-line.

This new control cars are largely identical appearance to the Benelux helm, but there are some important technical differences. This wheel teeth are made for example suitable for use in combination with 1700-locomotives. Furthermore, the operator is not left, but in the middle, and the helm is therefore identified by the absence of a middle arrow in the windshield.

Conversion of ICR to NS HiSpeed appearance
Most coaches (both first and second class) that are deployed in the Benelux train Amsterdam Centraal - Brussels South (600 series) are converted into the color scheme of NS Hispeed. These coaches have the same pink-red color scheme as the future high-speed trains for the HSL. Besides the color scheme also chairs a different color fabric and the toilet is adjusted by a bioreactor, where nothing more is deposited on the track. This is required nowadays because it is prohibited in some neighboring countries.
The Bs-control cars (Benelux) are not rebuilt and are likely to be drained. Term to the demolition

ICR-drawn carriages converted from train to train Intercity
In 2007 there was a slight change occurred, then the ICR has an intercity train received status. The adjustment is that the handle to open replaced by a push button. Advantage is that the driver departing from the locomotive or helm can see that he can get leave, after the conductor has. Connect the signal Also there will be red lights flash on the balconies above the doors, and sounds an automatic whistle.
This adjustment could be the end mean for deployment abroad, since there can not be, met the necessary requirements for this are UIC handles again necessary.
